Messapotamia Lefae is a post-gender surrealist and sartorlialist. She performs with the Dumpsta Players, serves on the Board of Directors at PhillyCAM (Philadelphia Community Access Media), and is an organizer of the Phreak N' Queer Art and Music Festival.
Messy volunteers as a Bingo Verifying Diva for the AIDSFund's GayBINGO and enjoys hosting events or making appearances at events that benefit local non-profits like ActionAIDS and the William Way Center.
Messy is madly in love with faerie drag and relies on the imagination of an unchained queer child to throw together looks inspired by inanimate objects or abstract concepts in an effort to defeat the imperative to conform to a socially-constructed gender. With the help of the Radical Faeries, other bright, talented artists, and her three faithful cats, Messy hopes to enhance the visibility of the queer and the gender-variant, to create opportunities for queer artists in the Greater Philadelphia area, to nurture the queer avant-garde movement, and to empower others to defy convention.
